I’ve been creating lifestyle environments and designing sets for commercial photographers as a photography stylist for over twenty years. Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Kohler and Hunter Douglas are among the clients for whom I’ve created beautiful rooms that were published in the pages of national magazines and catalogs.
In 1994, a real estate agent asked me to “fix” the home of a friend. The word “staging” was in its infancy. California had a handful of stagers, Dallas had none. I took a crew into this particular home and did what I’ve always done for photo shoots, made it look like it could be in a national magazine. The house sold to the first person who walked in the door. I realized I was on to something.
